CERTIFICATE IN CARING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AND PETS IN A HOUSEHOLD
The training programme is based on the concepts and principles of CBET. CBET is an approach to training which focuses on making female and male graduates competent by providing them with the skills, knowledge and attitudes which relate directly to the needs of employment. The training programme is needs-based. It was developed based on identified needs for the training of Domestic Workers.
The training programme is based on the concept and principles of competence. Competence encompasses the ability to perform work tasks and activities within an occupation or function to the standards expected in employment
In order to make the curriculum demand-driven and sustainable, a participatory approach was adopted by engaging key stakeholders in the curriculum development process. The technical curriculum development work was spearheaded by DWAZ and conducted by sectoral experts from the hospitality and tourism industry, public, private and NGO training institutions, domestic workers, employers of domestic workers, St John Ambulance and the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS). The curriculum development process was facilitated by experts from the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development (MHTEISTD) and National Manpower Advisory Council (NAMACO )and an International Labour Organization(ILO) consultant.
Roll out of this course in TVET colleges is due next year ,now the draft curriculum is at verification stage. This means that we are looking for input before the final document is adopted and made a national qualification.
